PILARÍN BAYÉS:
Born in Vic in 1941, during the Franco regime. He studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and there he is discovered by the educator Marta Mata, who introduces him to the professional world. In 1964 she published her first story for her children, in Editorial la Galera, El meu pardal and began to collaborate with the magazine Cavall Fort. From the beginning until now, Pilarín has published almost a thousand books, some translated into eight languages. He has collaborated in innumerable publications, exhibitions of original work, and his drawings have been applied to all kinds of supports and formats.

She is an artist committed to her country, Catalonia, and it is clearly reflected in the thickness of her extensive work.
Likewise, her great artistic and human quality has allowed her to illustrate any scenario, place or character from around the world and from all times.

In 1991 the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded him the Creu de Sant Jordi and, in April 2011, Vic awarded him the city's Gold Medal.

The origin of Patufet is not very clear. The story was already explained in the 16th century. Some say it comes from a German fairy tale; but, on the other hand, the English version places the story in the fantastic legendary world of King Arthur.

In Catalan we find multiple versions, although with different titles: Caganiu, En Polzet, En Patufet, En Napbuf, Cigronet, En Pere Patufet (Maspons i Labros), En trompetet (A.M. Alcover), etc.

It is a story of overcoming, where the little one's will overcomes all obstacles and nothing stops him. The danger does not scare him and once inside the belly of the ox he does not complain, he only helps the parents to find him, shouting: Sóc a la panxa del bou, que no hi neva ni hi plou!
