Bàrcino is an urban poem created by Joan Brossa in 1994. It is located in the Plaça Nova of Barcelona, in front of the old Roman and medieval city walls. The work was commissioned by the Ajuntament de Barcelona to the Barcelona poet, to create a space that delimited the square of the walls.
The work is composed by the seven letters that form the word Bàrcino, name that received the old Roman city of Barcelona. The poetic ensemble is organized diagonally following the layout of the old entrance road to the Roman city.
